Description
The SEBO Essential G4 Black Edition is a powerful, German-made upright vacuum cleaner designed for deep carpet cleaning, pet-hair removal, excellent filtration and years of dependable use. Its commercial-quality construction, 12-inch power head, four-position manual height adjustment and sealed S-Class filtration make it a strong choice for homes that want durable, serviceable cleaning performance.
The Black Edition features the same proven ESSENTIAL G4 platform in a sleek matte-black finish. A strong 1,300-watt suction motor, geared brush system and electronic monitoring help maintain effective cleaning while protecting the machine from common problems such as brush obstructions, full bags and airflow restrictions.
12-Inch Power Head for Carpet Cleaning
The SEBO Essential G4 Black Edition upright vacuum uses a 12-inch power head with an approximately 10.5-inch cleaning path. Its narrower width provides excellent maneuverability around furniture, beds and other household obstacles.
The motor-driven brush roller agitates carpet fibers to loosen embedded dirt, dust, lint and pet hair before strong airflow carries the debris into the vacuum’s large disposable filter bag.
Four Manual Height Settings
The Essential G4 includes four manual brush-height positions. This allows the user to select the appropriate roller height for low-pile carpet, medium-pile carpet, thicker carpeting and many area rugs.
A red warning light stays illuminated when the brush is positioned too high for effective cleaning or when the brush bristles have become excessively worn. This helps maintain proper brush contact with the flooring.
Excellent Pet-Hair Removal
The motor-driven brush roller and strong airflow make the SEBO Essential G4 particularly effective at removing pet hair from carpeting and many area rugs.
Hair and thread that wrap around the roller can be removed more easily because the brush roller is designed for tool-free removal.
Automatic Brush Obstruction Protection
If an object jams the brush roller, the red check-brush warning light flashes and the vacuum shuts off automatically.
This protective system helps prevent damage to the brush roller, geared belt, motor and carpeting.
Full-Bag and Clog Protection
The G4 continuously monitors airflow through the vacuum. A warning light indicates when the filter bag is full, the airflow pathway is obstructed or the pre-motor filter requires attention.
If restricted airflow continues, the vacuum automatically shuts down after a short period. This helps protect the suction motor from overheating.
S-Class Three-Stage Filtration
The SEBO Essential G4 Black Edition uses a tightly sealed three-stage filtration system designed to capture fine dust before air returns to the room.
- Three-layer SEBO AeraPure filter bag
- S-Class pre-motor microfilter
- Separate exhaust filter
- Tightly sealed vacuum housing
The sealed system helps prevent dirty air from escaping through gaps in the vacuum body. SEBO specifically describes the ESSENTIAL G series as using three-stage filtration with a sealed casing.
Large 1.4-Gallon Filter Bag
The G4 uses a large 1.4-gallon disposable filter bag. Its generous capacity means fewer bag changes compared with many compact or bagless vacuums.
The bag’s hygiene cap can be closed before removal, helping contain collected dirt, dust and pet hair during disposal.
Instant-Use Wand and Hose
The integrated wand and suction hose are always ready for above-floor cleaning. Simply pull out the wand or hose to clean furniture, corners, baseboards, shelves and other hard-to-reach areas.
The wand and hose provide approximately eight feet of combined reach. SEBO also offers an optional extension hose for additional stair-cleaning reach.
Three Onboard Cleaning Tools
- Dusting brush: for shelves, blinds, vents and delicate surfaces
- Crevice nozzle: for corners, edges and narrow spaces
- Upholstery nozzle: for furniture, mattresses and fabric surfaces
Tool-Free Brush-Roll Removal
The brush roller can be removed without tools for cleaning or replacement. This makes it easier to remove wrapped hair, thread and fibers before they affect cleaning performance.
40-Foot Power Cord
A 40-foot power cord gives the SEBO G4 an extended cleaning range and reduces the number of electrical outlet changes required in larger rooms or connected spaces.
SEBO lists the 40-foot cord as a standard feature of the ESSENTIAL G series.
Low 5.5-Inch Cleaning Profile
Lowering the handle places the vacuum into an approximately 5.5-inch profile, allowing it to reach beneath many beds, tables and other pieces of furniture.
An intermediate handle stop also improves maneuverability over rugs and around furniture.
Protective Rubber-Coated Wheels
Rubber-coated wheels help the vacuum move smoothly while reducing the risk of scratches or marks on hard flooring.
Scratch-Resistant Matte Black Finish
The Black Edition features a matte-black exterior designed to resist the appearance of everyday scuffs and scratches while giving the G4 a sleek, understated appearance.

USA Vacs Expert Recommendation
We recommend the SEBO Essential G4 Black Edition for customers who want a traditional upright vacuum with exceptional durability, strong carpet performance and straightforward mechanical controls.
The 12-inch head is particularly useful in furnished rooms because it is easier to maneuver than wider commercial-style uprights, while the 40-foot cord and large filter bag make it capable of cleaning substantial areas efficiently.
